After all the hoopla has died and the banners have been torn down, one finally comes to the conclusion that our flirst attempt at a contest of this nature was a fairly strong success. The expressed purpose of this contest was to involve as many of the faculty and staff as possible in the goings-on of the Gamecock. As it turned out, we received fifty entries from about twenty persons drawn from all quarters of the University community. Enough of these inanities. The main point of interest at this time is who are the winners and when will they get their prizes. FIRST PLACE: AWARD $15.00and atrophy, WINNER Russell Jeff coat received 32 points. SECOND PLACE: AWARD $10.00 and a trophy, WINNERS (there was a three-way tie for second place) Virginia Bart, Mary Gail Walker, A. Quintan White each received 30 points. FIFTH PLACE: AWARD $5.00, WINNER: Mary Gail Walker at 27 points. As a word of explanation, the prints were each scored by four judges: Thomas A Price, Gamecock, Bob Craft, Gamecock, Bonnie Cantlay, Garnet and Black, and Don K. Wooley, School of Journalism. Each print was given a numerical score on a rising scale from zero to. ten. Therefore, the maximum possible score was forty. Any entrant who wishes may pick up his or her entry at the Gamecock office (318 Russell House) NO PRINTS WILL BE MAILED.' Again thank you and congratulations.
