purchases, the Clemson game is
sold out. Tickets are still available
for the six other home games,
although large crowds as expected
for what promises to be the
toughest games on the
schedule-LSU, Georgia Tech, and
N.C. State. Tickets for these
contests are swiftly becoming
scarce.
The Gamecocks really face a
tough schedule this season. But
with the talent and the number of
veterans, Dietzel should accrue at
least a 7-4 season.
In addition to 38 returnees
17 starters, USC's new weapori will
be the Veer type offense.

Gamecock basketball with
Frank McGuire at the helm is
always invigorating and exciting.
McGuire who boasts a 430-165
in 23 collegiate seasons will be
seeking his sixth straight 20 win
season and fourth consecutive
post-season tournament berth, this
year.
With the aid of two freshman
starters and All-America Kevin
Joyce the Gamecocks posted a
22-7 record and an NCAA playoff
bid in 1972-73. However Joyce,
6-3, USC's fifth leading scorer with
1,400 points, and seven-foot center
Danny Traylor must be replaced as
well as sixth man Casey Manning.

Brian Winters, 6-4 swing man
who averaged 11.5 points as a
junior, will be the '73-'74 captain
and the only senior other than 6-5
R ick Mousa who spent most of last
season on the bench with injuries
and scored only 27 points in 11
games.
Other than Winters, the top
returnee is 6-8 Alex English who
started all 29 games as a freshman,
averaging 14.6 points and 10.6
rebounds. A native Columbian,
English was named to three
all-tournament teams in the Utah
Classic, Holiday Festival, and the
NCAA Midwest regional. A slim
and graceful athlete who may well
be McGuire's next All-America.
