SG Fears R ecommendations that Green Street be widened to a four-lane freeway and all parking be elimi nated are being considered by the Highway Department for public re lease next month, said Jay Smith, student government official. "While examining some older city planning maps, we found a plan called the Valley Freeway plan, which involved making a four-lane freeway out of Green Street," Smith said. "We got curious and called the Highway De partment and found that although the plan as a whole has been tech nically cancelled, the Highway Department is going ahead and making the same recommen P, Dr. John Basil, whose specialty is Russian history, with a group of 15 high school teachers and college instructors, took an intensive look at contemporary Russian life and institutions in Moscow, Kiev, Leni ngrad and Yalta. The trip was the first overseas graduate .study/travel course of fered by the USC History Depart ment and carried six graduate hours credits. The group met for two weeks of classes prior to depar ture June 16 and each student must complete a comprehensive paper on an aspect of modern Russian life to receive the academic credits "We were all very surprised with the renovating and restoring which the Party is doing," said Dr. Basil.
