To Student Sena Lighting By ERNIE KASTNER Gamecock Staff Writer Plans to improve campus lighting were reported to the Student Senate Wednesday night. A plan to illuminate the cros swalk in front of the Russell House was reported by Sen. Allen Ward to insure that the motorists can see all pedes trians. The maintenance department also will improve lighting at the Russell House patio and the parking lot by the Russell House, Ward said. Lights will be improved at University Ter race, and new lighting will be installed between McLintock dormitory and the infirmary. Sen. G. B. Manning, speaking on a bill introduced last week to "establish a three-man com mission to study the laws, rules, resolutions and regulations affecting students at the University of South Carolina, said, "We need this bill to establish a place where students can go and study all rules and laws affecting them." A bill to establish new park ing guidelines was introduced by Sen. Steve Zagoria. All of the above changes would be on an experimental basis and if they do not work out the lots should be changed to diagonal parking "con siderably" increasing parking capabilities, according to Zagoria. This bill was sent to committee for further study. A bill stating that all off cam pus senators will be elected in the fall and serve for one-year terms was introduced by Sen. Rodney Shealy. Currently only the freshman off campus senators are elected in the fall. This bill was sent to committee for further study. The committee will be composed of one administra tion official, one faculty member, one off-campus stu dent and one on-campus stu dent. This bill also was sent to committee for further study. The allocation of $1,000 for the Elections Commission bud get was voted on and passed. An amendment to the USC Constitution to be put on the referendum for the spring elec tions was voted on and passed. The amendment would delete from Article IV Section 2, D-2, "all election disputes resulting from elections conducted under this Constitution." It would add to section D-6 "The Supreme Court shall have appellate juris diction over all election dis putes resulting from elections conducted under this Constitu tion." Through a clerical error some confusion arose about the cam paign dates. A bill was passed by the Student Senate saying campaigns would run "from 5 p.m. on the fifth school day prior to elections."
