' Robert A. Stewart, director of housing services, said that he was concerned about the number of students who had been to see him about release from their contract by that means. "We've had about a half a dozen students this year come in about this," Stewart said. He said that no one has actually done it yet, that they were sim ply "contemplating" it. "They want to know what it will do to their contract," Stewart said. Stewart said that if the mar riage can be proven then the student can be let out of his con tract and perhaps be given a refund, either on his advance or on the remaining rent for the semester. "All we would have to do is verify the marriage," Stewart said. Rosen said it was "unusual" to go to court to prove a common law marriage but that it could be done. Rosen said that a common law marriage, is just as "legal and valid a marriage" as a large church wedding in the eyes of the law. And that the only way to dissolve it is through the divorce courts.
