The DePaul Demons come to
the Coliseum tonight posting a
10-5 record, the same as
Carolina. The tip-off is at 8:10.
The Gamecocks, coming off
Saturday night's 71-54 loss to
Marquette, will be looking to
continue their home winning
streak with their eighteenth
consecutive victory. Over a
year ago, Marquette was
Carolina's last opponent to
leave with a victory. Marquette
took that close game 72-71.
DePaul brings a small team
to Columbia but they have made
up for their lack of height with
a fine ability to jump. The Blue
Demons are also cooing off a
loss. Friday night they went
down in defeat to Manhattan
68-59.
The DePaul team is led by Al
Burks. The 6-2 forward is the
team's leading scorer and
rebounder. He was also last
year's leading scorer, and has
been the number one rebounder
for the past two season. Burks'
playing mate at forward is 6-5
Jim Marino. Center Mike Gil
lespie and guard Nick Hirtzig
at 6-6 and 6-3, respectively are
two other starters.

because of the playing time I got
against Virginia Tech. I really
didn't do much but catch Brian' s
passes." .. Winters said the long
pass was nothing new. "We've done
it before but never as much as we
did it tonight," the junior guard
said. "I just saw the open man and
got it to him.
"Sometimes a zone press can
really hurt you," Winters continued,
"but sometimes you can get a lot
of quick baskets off it."
