America with a C TO THE EDITOR: I am quite astonished and might I add, amazed that the GameKocks should take it upon itself to compare 61 percent of the voters of America to a "covey of sleazy whores". I believe that this phrase has been misused somewhat. Mr. McGovern, in my opinion, raped the Democratic Party at their convention by allowing his minority of idealistic-sadists to literally take over (forcefully rape?) that conven tion, and draw up a platform that only 38 percent of the American Electorate agreed with. However, minorities are not always wrong. The Jewish minority in Nazi Ger many had the right to exsist. The black and Indian minorities, in America. have the right to voice their opinion, and to create their own culture. The people who voted for Mr. McGovern had-the right to express their opinion, as did the people who voted for Mr. Nixon. Sour-grapes will get you nowhere, Charles. Try next time, and maybe political idealism will be in vogue. P. S. America is spelled with a C, Knavery is spelled with a K. HOWARD SHARKES Spitting back This letter is directed to R. Linton Admiral, the gentleman who wrote the article in the Gamecock of November second. A group of black students here on campus are presently discussing the possibility of giving you stu dents a "White Culture Week." Funny, huh, you thought you had all 52 weeks. The date of this week would take place sometime next semester. We are planning to have as guest lecturers Master Strom Roof J DIAMONE Welcome S1 3 Locations T 1221 T; Rosewood Sho 503 12th St. W Universit Voice Thurmond, George Wallace and Robert Scoggins. We also plan to invite members of the John Birch Society and the Daughters of the Confederacy over for tea and a dis cussion. The topic will be "How to Sustain White Supremacy." Instead of having a contest for who could grow the wooliest head of hair we are planning to have a contest on who could grow the stringiest head of hair for you Europeans. We are also planning to decorate a barn and throw a shingding or square dance. Consequently as you walk into the Ragsell House there would be pic tures of European Gods of hate that robbed Africa of its people and cul ture and raped the Indians of their country because they were culture less and countryless. Last but not least, we will have a confederate flag hanging from the ceiling in the Russell House and the song "Dixie" will be continuously played over the radio station. If what we Black students did last week horrified you, you had better transfer because that was only the beginning. The Afro association has undertook the objective of display ing Black Culture not only for one week, but for 52 weeks and thats forever and after. Why is it that when Blacks try to do something here at Carolina we are given so much static? Is it that we are getting out of our places? The Afro Association caught hell last 'week in its presentation of "Black Culture Week." But if you think that pressuring us is going to keep us in our "places" you had bet ter regroup and formulate another strategy because it only makes us more determined to increase our overall effort. We admit that we made several mistakes, however, we made mistakes of which I am sure other organizations have made. So R. (Marake Sakula) Chickens come home TO THE EDITOR: That obscure fossil of McCarthyism, replete with secret campaign funds, obvious corrup tion, and a host of other "bugs," has been stuffed and remodelled for another four years by the American people. It is inconceivable. Pity America, land of buffoons and fools... TIM BEALL Colorblind TO THE EDITOR: In response to the previous letters to the editor, "A Different Racism" and "Black Strength", I would like to contribute my ideas on the sub ject of better understanding between Blacks and Whites. It seems ridiculous that two groups of intelligent, responsible individuals cannot live together in harmony, as brothers and sisters, regardless of race. Several years ago, it seemed as though this par ticulaf' point was of the utmost importance: now, instead of equal ity of the races, Blacks wish to dominate Whites. As this trend becomes more intense, many Whites are beginning to wonder if their pro-black feelings are guiding them in the right direction. I know that much anti-white sentiment has resulted from a new surge of Black independence. I think that independence is great; what's more, I think that taking pride is being Black is essential for Black success. However, the most important thing for all of us, Black or White, to remember is that we are all Human, and that we owe love, brotherhood, and common courtesy to one another. Black slavery is the biggest mis take that whites ever made. It is a mistake that should remain fresh in the memories of all Whites so that they can better understand the sometimes agressive actions of their Black brothers: as the saying goes, "Back a person into a corner, and he will fight." The slavery mis take is one that should also remain fresh in the minds of all Blacks, so that it may serve as an incentive to be successful in their ambitions, and also, that it may prevent any equally grevious injustice to any other race. My feelings on this subject will probably be met with opposing opin ions of Blacks and Whites, alike. However, honestly viewing the situation, I see no other way to con tentment other than "color-blind" cooperation among all people, at all times. KATHY RUSS Slaves-Liberties TO THE EDITOR: Yes, we "asked for it", but we didn't ask for your obnoxious editorial in the November nine Gamecock. Your editoral was filled with contempt for the people who voted against becoming the economic slaves of McGovernism. There was one very strong, rational arguement for voting for Nixon. McGovern was running against him. He wanted a policy of national surrender abroad, with the notable exception of Israel. McGovern wouldn't be behind Israel to get the Jewish vote, would he? Perish the thought! So you're worried that reaction is sweeping the state and nation because Nixon beat McGovern and Thurmond beat what's-his-name. Wait till 74 and 76, you ain't seen nothing yet. If you really care about individual liberties why don't you quit stealing thousands of dollars from us in the form of fees. Let the people who want to finance the trash you write give donations. I'm sure you are 1000 percent behind that plan. "Quick, on your knees! There are madmen loose in the country." And in the Gamecock office also, I might add. JIMMY BOYD Riddles TO THE EDITOR: Me and Stewart and Will Ed were sitting around the other day and we made up some riddles. I thought you might enjoy them. Score your self as follows: 0 correct, average; 1 correct, excellent; 2-5 correct, you cheated. 1. What is the saddest state in the Union? 2. What is the happiest state in the Union? 3. What state is round on each end and high in the middle? 4. What state is green on the outside but yellow when you open it up to get the seeds? 5.
