According to Harold Brunton, vice-president for business affairs, all buildings constructed prior to 1860 will be up for restoration pro cesses. The restoration will be centered around three main areas, modifica tion of interiors of the buildings; improving things such as plumbing, air conditioning and electricity; and restoration of the external parts of the building. This last area also includes landscaping and will be the most visible changes, Brunton said. An architect visited campus last Thursday and others will be invited to inspect the situation and discuss ideas, Brunton said. The man who was here Thursday, Mr. Robert Dean, has worked on colonial Wil liamsburg and the Furman campus. We especially want architects with experience in restoration, he added. Brunton said a complete effort would be made to preserve the his torial aspects of the Horseshoe. We want to restore to the general appearance of 1800-60, but a lot of modification was done during those years so we need to discuss things such as restoring to the original brick of 1800 or to the stucco put in latter, he said. Since the presence of the automobile is incompatible with that time period, the possibility of closing the area to traffic has been discussed, Brunton said.
