Abortion - murder TO THE EDITOR: Does the Carolina Community comprehend anything other than dope, parties, easy courses, and the least responsible route? It appears not. If you were given a one ques tion test that reads like this, "choose the one of the following that does not fit with the others: 1. Vietnam War 2. Abortion 3. America's oppressed", which would you choose? The above are all current issues and they all overlap, but the one that is the most pressing and the one that can carry incorrigible repercus sions is number two (2). It has not been very long since the black man was considered inhu man and treatedas such and it is today that soldiers are dying in a meaningless war; but America is coming around with regard to both of these issues. How can abortion possibly take hold of our community in the form of hot line services when we believe in life and freedom as so expressed by our present position on war and oppression? The only legitimate argument anyone in favor of abor I IALL THE S OPEN HAPPY H4 PREMIUM 12 AND ,1 Above: Five-th sophisticated I McIntosh Labo analysis of your Below: Laborati e free showing pel - your equipment. - Voice tion can possibly have is that in the womb of a should-be-loving mother a fetus is not a living human individual. I beg you, don't be caught in a horrible nightmare that is sure to come for those having, committing, or endorsing abortion when, in the near future, both sci ence and religion will prove that human life begins at conception. Don't be caught up in the fast talking, selfish "out" of today's uninformed. Science already has many facts to be considered: A baby born at twenty-one (21) weeks; t brain activity on an elec troencephalogram at six weeks; human heart beats at eighteen days; and these are just the beginning. t There are many ways of helping 1 unwed, unloving or disturbed par ents. Let's make life beautiful and give the unborn their innate legal rights. Don't be caught in the night mare of murder! RICHARD A. I must, however, disagree with your editorial criticizing the intent and effect of the rally on Green Street last Wednesday. I thought the rally was well )rganized, orderly, and effective in expressing student sentiment. Surely, there were people who were ipst there for the fun of it. But real tudent concern was also expres ied. I was impressed with the ibsence of apathy, and with the enewed spirit of unity that seemed o prevail. Dave Spinazzolo has said that Stu lent Government is not a govern nent. I agree. He has also said hat Student Government can be a obby group with the administration or the students. I disagree on this. It has been tried and has failed-in nost cases miserably. But last Vednesday, :Government may have ound its role-as a mobilizer of stu lent action. If Wednesday was a (limpse. of a new Student Govern nent, thank God. We all know what wonderful results we've gotten from theses committees.I hope Mr. Spinazzolo doesn't take your advice. Student Government went to the students Wednesday-instead of spending its time ignoring the students and brownnosing the administration's bureaucrats. Rather than end those rallies, we need one every week until things improve. JAY SMITH Challenge TO THE EDITOR: I find it necessary to answer an article in the Monday Oct. 8 edition of Gamecock entitled "Ecumenicalisms in!" (God Ltd.) By Harry Hope. This artical as I read it was a slap at Christianity and its Hypocrocy. It is one thing to bring to light the hypocricy of some religious practices and another thing to Con demn God because of these hypoc rites. I myself am a Christian and am well aware of the many evil prac tices that go on in the name of Christ but I hope to show you that God is still God and without any short comings in spite of what the hypoc rites do. John 14:6 States, "Jesus saith unto him, I am the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE: No man cometh unto the Father but by Me. This Verse alone should make people realize that God has NOTHING TO DO WITH_THES EVILS. No one is more upset with the people making money on religion than I am But remember it was Jesus who turned over the tables of NOW SERVING BREAKFA 7:30-9:3 COLLEGE & SUMTER IG 2 DAY! It was Jesus who said we will know the Christians by their fruits. When God gives a man (or woman) a talent he has NO right to sell it but is required to Share it freely with his fellow man. We in this country are so far from the real Christianity that the Bible teaches that it is no wonder many people are confused but Jesus said in Luke 17:1 It is impossible but that offences will come: But woe unto him, thru whom they come! It were better for him that a milstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones. I hereby Challange Mr. Harry Hope to become a REAL Christian and SHOW the world how it should be done instead of wasteing his time critisizing the Hypocrocy which every body knows already (And if we know, How much more does God know)? and be a follower of JESUS. It takes a real Man to be a real Christian and from past records we know that it Cost Jesus his life and also all his deciples were martryed except John for living it. I also Challange Him or anyone else to find ONE thing wrong with Jesus .af the Bible. In closing I will say to ANYONE that hates Hypocrocy and loves truth, Get on Gods side because ALL the Hypocrites will be in hell and if your not on Gods side you will have to spend eternity with these hypocrites. As Jesus often said, HE THAT HATH AN EAR, LET HIM HEAR." BOB ECKHARDT WEEKDAYS STm BURGER 0 KING R 0th BPM PM sm.entIs at tributors f ' Aid. Iamsi
