To be held the night before the homecoming game against Miami of Ohio, "Cockfest" is planned to provide family entertainment and sponsored by the athletic depart ment and the Alumni Association. The homecoming court and the six finalists will be announced, and a pep rally, at which coach Paul Dietzel and the USC team will appear. Featured speaker of the program will be South Carolina's Governor John West. Pi Kappa Phi will present the atheletic depart ment with a 40 x 60 inch flag of a red gamecock on a white back ground. State student delegates meet The USC delegation to the South arolina State Student Legislature &ill hold an organizational meeting Wonday Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. in Russell Hlouse 322. John Blackshire, treasurer of SCSSL, said "any student interested in having an active role in trying to guide the government' of South Carolina should attend." "SCSSL is a statewide organiza tion of students in higher education rounded on the goal of having stu tents organize and present to the ;tate government their ideas and )pinions on the government," he said. SCSSL will have a fall meeting lov. 14-17 in Columbia. Blackshire ;aid the purpose of the session is :o present and pass student bills in :he unicameral organization-bills lealing with issues concerning stu tents. Next spring, he said, SCSSL, will egin a full scale effort to make stu lent opinions known at the state iouse. SCSSL presently maintains a paid student lobbyist who has affected some legislation, Blackshire said.
