The program will cover a period of five years and could cost over $1 million. An amphitheatre suitable for con certs, plays and the like is one of the highpoints of the plan. Other ideas are tennis and basketball courts, rugby and soccer fields, horsetrails and stables, a two-to three-acre pond and diving platforms for the existing lake. Each Cabin will be fully insulated for the upcoming winter and will have air conditioning during the spring and summer months. The kitchen facilities make the cabins a suitable place to have parties. Located 14 miles northeast of the University on Route 12, the Bell Camp was purchased by Mr. R. G. Bell about 20 years ago. The camp was first used as a YMCA center. The price paid was 10c an acre which rivals other land purchases such as Manhatten and the Oklahoma Territory. From the committee on student affairs a resolution was called for to petition the Board of Trustees protesting the planned widening of Pickens Street, and asked for the closing of Green Street between Bull and Sumter. Also introduced was a resolution to boycott all university dining services until the quality and freshness of the food improved. A bill was passed changing the duty of the election committee to inform the students of election five days prior to the election instead of 14. Two senator appointments were approved; with Martha Montt gomery replacing Carol Ellis, and Mary Horton, replacing Rita McKinny. In a special session called im mediately after the meeting, the appointments for the election committee were passed in total. ref camp now represents an in vestment of $645,000. September 24th is a tentatively planned Bell Camp Day, with the facilities available for the entire student body.
