Alexander Solzhenitsyn will not receive his 1970 Nobel Prize for literature because the Soviet government won't give a visa to the Nobel Foundation official who was to present the Prize. Solzhenitsyn said in his first on the-record interview with a reporter from the NEW YORK TIMES that Russian authorities are "trying to suffocate" him. He said his family and friends are being shadowed "like state criminals." Students at Ohio's Central State University are undergoing urinalysis as a prerequisite for quarterly registration. Student President Bill Swift submitted the proposal, voted on by the student body, to the school's ad ministrators and trustees following two drug-related shootings. 1,500 students out of 2,000 endorsed the mandatory urinalysis. The Supreme Court heard arguments last week in a suit in volving an attempt made by students to set up a local chapter of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) in October 1969 at Central Connecticut State College. A student committee approved their application for recognition, but the decision was a overruled by the president of the college. If the Court rules in favor of the students who brought the suit, controversial groups denied permission to operate on campus would qualify for recognition.
