"I talked to Coach Ewbank (the head coach of the Jets) and he said he was real glad to have me," said Harris. "I'm really happy that I was drafted by the Jets. It'll be almost like being in my own backyard," said the New Jersey native, "It's only about an hour's drive from my house to where I'll be. "The Jets are one of my favorite teams," said Harris, "I have no complaints at all." Jim Trecker, the New York Jets Public Relations man, had praise for Harris, "Several of our scouts are very high on him. With two talents he'll be that much better off. We should be able to use him as a backup defensive back and probably a starting kick returner. "We won't know until July or August if he can beat out the men who are presently playing defensive backs. He'll have a real tough time doing so." The New Orleans Saints had similar praise for the abilities of Davies. "We think he's a valuable commodity and he wouldn't have been available if we had waited any later than the fifth round to take him," said Saints Public Relations official Larry Liddell. "His college career earned him a shot at the pros. Hopefully, he can fill a need for us, but we won't know until next summer if he can start for our club," continued Liddell.
