Campers
for girls,
By BOB GRONDAHL
Staff Writer
"Girls, girls, what we need is
more girls to participate in our
weekend camping trips," said a
student as he sat by the roaring
fire at Bell Camp this past
weekend. This is what seemed to
pervade the air as free food was
being eaten, chess games being
played and books being read.
Ed McDonald, a recent USC
graduate, discussed the need for
careful planning for the upcoming
Appalachian Trail hike as trail
hiking requires a high degree of
organization and proficiency.
Dan Bell, Recreation Committee
Chairman, held a brief meeting
discussing the upcoming Hunting
Island State Park camping trip

this coming weekend. "We are
looking for people who think they
enjoy getting away from the
everyday hassle for a weekend. We
want to give people the chance to
learn some of the basic camping
skills and naturally we welcome
people who have had previous
camping experience.
"This coming weekend we are
planning to do some crabbing and
there are good fishing facilities so
bring some fishing gear.
"Our next meeting is this
Tuesday night in room 321 of the
Russell House. If you can't make
the meeting at eight, I can be
reached at extension 5605."
