In all probability, they are not. But then again, neither would an entire page full. It would be redundant to recall the records that Harris has set during his three years at this university. And it would be even more foolish to try and recount the thrills he has given fans all over the Southeast. Harris was a first team All America in his junior year at USC. He caught the fancy of a national television audience when the Gamecocks nearly upset Georgia last season. And he caught the attention of every sportswriter who enjoyed searching for new descriptive superlatives. This season was merely a spectacular continuation of spectacular first and second acts. Harris sparked an untested defense to a win over Georgia Tech in the opener. Even in defeat, he was tremendous. When switched to offense, he responded with 108 yards on the ground and three touchdowns. But suddenly, the kickoffs squibbed and the punts angled towards the sideline. The threat of Dick Harris was largely taken away due to such elusive tactics. However, his presence was still very much a factor in every contest.
