Students now can improve their skills By WAYNE FORD Staff Writer Any student who needs to improve his study or reading skills should contact the Communication Skills Development Center (CSDC). The main emphasis in this program is to help the student in his individual weakness. They cover all com munication problems, such as speaking, reading studying, concentrating, listening and have added notetaking. If the student feels he is weak in any of these areas he should look into this project. CSDC is located on the second floor of the Pendelton Building. Mrs. Lila Bruckner co-ordinator said, "Come to the building and see for yourself, but it would be best to call (5523) and ask for an appointment. There are schedules fnr group classes of which some are two hours, once a week. This Is the least amount of practice a student should have to effectively conquer his weakness. They also have. individual studies with experts and up-to-date equipment, which makes the learning more interesting and effective. The center is already in contact with 130 students. Each student pays $5.00 for lab work which lasts for just 6 weeks, with noticable advances, Mrs. Bruckner explained. They would also like to set up projects with specific groups like athletes and lawyers and define their needs. They are prepared to help faculty and staff members also. Foreign students take ad vantage of this. project. It will help any student increase his effectiveness in com munication, the staff ex plained. CSDC is run completely by students.
