ROME.33 A.D.-officials report
today that the sensational trial of
religious fanatic Jesus of Nazareth
has ended, with a death sentence
decreed for the 33 year old car
penter.
The Pilate administration is
expected to receive much public
support for the conviction of the
man who was accused of trying to
overthrow the government through
his rapidly growing peace
movement.
The Nazarene youth cult leader
will be executed "with all due
ceremony and expediency," ac
cording to administration sources.
Pontius Pilate, the governor,
said that "this Jesus character is
ruining the Jerusalemization of
Judea. The idea that this man is
the son of some Jewish god is as
about as absurd as thinking that a
worship center of his would some
day be in the mighty city of
Rome."

countered a man thought to be a
follower of Jesus but the bearded,
long-haired burly man denied that
he was a follower.
Meanwhile, undercover agent
Judas is reported missing and
friends said that he may be
planning to commit suicide.
Military search parties report
that they can find no followers of
the Nazarene. A large crowd
turned out a week ago to greet the
leader as he entered Jerusalem to
participate in the Jewish
ceremonies called Passover.
In random samplings of opinion,
noted church and local leaders
expressed satisfaction at the
outcome of the verdict. One church
man told reporters "now those
strange ceremonies on mountains
and those rumors of 'miracles' will
he squelched."
One local author is planning to
write a book on the subject of the
Nazerene's life and teachings, but
officials have said that such scrolls
will be banned and declared ob
scene.

DlEAR MR. BEEBE:
)uring my course of study at
Carolina I have learned that one of
the basic attributes of a
I)emocracy is the orderly tran
sition of power. At the end of each
election the power and authority
passes hands but in my opinion one
of the most important attributes is
the fact that the opposition doesn't
attempt to keep the winners from
gaining the authority invested in
them by the electorate. The,
principles are necessary for gos
government but abiding by these
principles are not enough to
promote efficient, representative
and workable student government.
As I review the past Spring
elections, I find myself being
educated to the true mechanics of
politics. In my quest for vice
president of the student body, I
was determined to hold steadfast
to my ardent philosophies of life. I
saw the election as a challenge not
a war. I endeavored to maintain
my very friendly and pleasant
relationship with my opponents
even though during the campaign
they would seem to be my enemies.
In this fight we as candidates
had one primary and ever-present
goal: our desire to contribute to
student government all the
resources we have to make it truly
representative of the E
