IF There was once a very confused situation concerning a coliseum. The students who owned the coliseum were being charged outrageous prices to attend func tions held in their own hall. Outside promoters came into town with traveling troups of musicians and left town with bags full of money many people thought reightfully belonged to he students. After a time, some of the students got wise and began to resent being ripped off. Outside promoters are very smart men, and soon they came up with a plan to counteract the student resentment. They would find someone in the university to say that they were putting on the show and the students would be satisfied. The only hitch was that these outside promoters needed someone to front for them and finding such an organization is somewhat like taking applications for the part of .Judas. Anything is possible though, and eventually a very smart man named Ralph Bridges who works out of Atlanta enlisted a Judas, payed him about $600 (or' was it 30 pieces of silver?) and went to work. %kWe ar yo A reception for all international students will be held at the Governor's Mansion -today from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This reception, an annual event, provides an opportunity for in ternational students attending colleges and universities throughout the state to meet the Governor and the First Lady. As in the past, students are asked to wear their native costumes if they have one available. Host families have also been invited and are encouraged to attend with their student. Students are urged to attend the reception whether or not their host families are able to attend. Governor and Mrs. West are looking forward to meeting the many international students who have chosen to study in South Carolina. DRUGS ANYONE Due to demand, a second session of Pharmacy 399 - Drug Use and Misuse will be offered this semester. One hour credit on a Pass-Fail Basis wili be given. The course will meet on Wed nesday evenings from 5:30 to 7:15, starting on March 31 and ending on May 19, in Room 310 in the Physical Science Building. WA HWIK EXCHANG;E Spend Fall term at an English uiniversity. Open on a competitive basis to all. History majors, rising sophomores through rising seniors are eligible. Six students will be selected. Tuition will be paid on an exchange basis with six English mmComment-w C Juc Who is the Judas? IFC or for those who aren't good at initials, the Inter Fraternity -Council of USC. These upstanding young leaders of the cream of Carolina's fraternal organizations volun teered to let Bridges use their good '?) name in return for a small fee. IFC would claim the production and do the leg work so that USC students felt better about paying *.0) a ticket to see Blood, Sweat and Tears. The same _procedure was used for the recent James Taylor concert also. Oh. I forgot to tell you of the fantastic discount IFC managed to secure for Carolina students: 51) cents. In this time of confusion over the use and priorities of Carolina Coliseum. one thing that is not needed is an organization within USC working in alliance with outside promoters. And for what'? You might ask yourself. Well, as far as I could determine, the IFC gets $600 for selling out the student body of USC. Sure, the IFC will claim that they only did it to secure top name entertainment for Carolina, but it's a shallow argument. News briefs*r=% ar native students at USC. Travel allowance is provided. The prize for the best overall collage will be $100, and for the best collage in each catagory a prize of $50 will be awarded. The best overall collage will be considered for purchase by the Arts Committee. Winners will be announced April POETRY CONTEST Trhe Academy of American Poets is offering a prize of $100 for the best poem or group of poems by a student, graduate or un d duate. The only hitch is that between the time of an eventual solution and the present, people are still being ripped off. Once again, a hearty thanks to the IPC for keeping the student body in mind.
