IMartians Orson Welles' classic adaptation of H. G. Welles' "War of the Worlds" will be presented at midnight by WUSC radio Thur sday. This broadcast caused a flood of terror in the Eastern United States when it was first presented on Halloween night in 1938 on CBS radio's program "Orson Welles' Mercury Theatre." The program was presented in the manner of news flashes about a Martian invasion of earth. It was so successfully realistic that thousands of listeners thought it was a real invasion. Pete Uas, music director of WLSC, secured the recording from the-Longines Symphonette Society as part of a special series of "Radio Highlights." HOUSTON NCAA TRIP The University Union Travel Committee is sponsoring a trip to Houston for the NCAA. The total cost for the trip is $140 which include's motel ac cotodations, round trip tran sportatign, transportation to and from the airport and tickets to all games. The trip will be March 25to 27. A deposit of $50 should be paid in Room 404, Russell House. The entire deposit will be refunded if the Gamecocks do not go to Houston. Deposits will be accepted beginning March 15. The University's presentation of the long running Broadway show is the first production in South Carolina excepting touring companies. Janie Jones has been cast in the title role of Dolly. Lew Tyler, director of Russell House, spent Friday afternoon examining the spring and said that "the level is not unbearable, but the bacteria, count is higher than safe."
