Eaj J-Scho, The USC College of Journalism will host the national convention of the Association for Education in Journalism (AEJ) Aug. 22-25. Over 500 journalism educators are expected for the four-day meeting, according to Albert T. Scroggins, USC journalism dean, who is program chairman. Delegates will be housed in Cap stone , with meetings in the Humanities Center and Leconte College on campus. Meeting concurrently with AEJ will be the American Association of Schools and Departments of Journalism and the American Society of Journalism School Administrators. USC is a member ol both organizations, and the USC journalism faculty are members of AE.J. I)eanScroggins is immediate SCSP meeting scheduled The S.C. Society for Philosophy will hold its annual meeting Friday and Saturday on the campus. Host for the meeting is the USC Department of Philosophy, headed by Dr. James W. Oliver. In charge of local arrangements is Professor James L. Stiver. Officers of the association, whose membership consists of faculty members and students of philosophy In South Carolina colleges and universities, are Dr. Rtosamond K. Srprague, USC, president; William Daniel, Win throp, vice president; and Dr. Foster E. Talt, USC, Secretary treasurer. Tfhe discussions and presen tations wil be held In Russell House. Other participants from the USC faculty are Dr. Herbert Matsen and Dr. Robert 'J. Mulvaney. The winner of the annual prize for an undergraduate student paper In competition sponsored by the society is USC student Lee D. Purvis of Cayce. Thomas 0. Hutord of the Furman University faculty Is- chairman -of the com mittee on the competition and will ly spring at Carol A to host past president and executive committee member of the American Association of Schools and Department of Journalism. The program for the convention is being developed internally by the 13 divisions making up AEJ. 'The divisions are advertising, Cambre gei C.J. Cambre Jr. has joined the faculty of the McKissick Memorial Library as a cataloger. Cambre is a native of New Orleans and a graduate of Louisiana State University at New Orleans and received his library degree from Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge. He was recently discharged as a First Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps.
