Professor Wick war will talk on "The Uit d Nations and the Developig Nations". Professor Wickwar has served the United Nations as Chief of the World Food Program. During the spring he was UN advisor to the government of the Ivory Coast. Professor Wickwar spends his summers as .Consultant in Social Development for the UN. The Friends especially request the presence of international students. NEW PLAYS A play has been chosen, and tryout dates set, for the University Theatre's second major production of the year. The play, to be presented on December 10,11 and I2 -- the last full weekend before Christmas vacation -- is "The Glass Menagerie", by Tennessee Williams. It will be directed by Dr. Stephen Coy, Associate Director of th~e University Theatre an~d director oS last spring's production of "Marat Sade". Tlryouts for roles in "The Glass Menagerie" will take place from 7 to I0 p.m. in Drayton Hall on Monday. October 26, and Tuesday, October 27. The tryouts, according to Prof. Coy, are open to all stuidents at the University. * NE-W FACULTY T lhree new faculty members have joined the department of art at the University of South Carolina. Annie P. Quinsac, a native of France and a Ph. D. graduate of the Sorbonne in Paris, will teach art history. Miss Quinsac, whose main area of interest is modern European painting, also received an A. B. Mellon Fellowship in the depart me'nt of fine arts at the University of Pittsburgh for research and travel in the United States. hiarold J1. Hansen, whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, has joined the USC laculty to teach in the fundamental arts program. He is a graduate of the UJniversity of Illinois and has the M. F. Student Government was ap proved fr membership by the chamber's Board of Directors during its regular mathly board meeting. The vote was unaftimous. Student Government officials decided to Join the Chamber of Commerce realizing. that the outside community 'affects the University so greatly. it is also anq attempt by the student officials to meet with the outside officials and establish communications between he two groups. USC Letterman President Oliver J.
