Phi Ka Phi Kappa Psi fraternity is trying to help bridge the com munication gap at -Carolina by sponsoring afternoon "rap session" in its lounge at the Phi Kappa Psi house. Various faculty members will be asked to participate in the program, answering student's questions about timely and con troversial topics. The co-ordinator of the program, Dick Montleth, said "We want fraternities to have a contribution to the Carolina community. I want to emphqsize that it is not jusi for Greeks. but is open to all students." The idea for the program came from the Phi Kappa Psi chapter at Vanderbilt University. Hungate, dean of the USC School of Social Work, said the project is "a unique practicum for social work students, and other communities around the nation may be looking to it for answers." These students work either on a one-to-on basis with the patients or in a roup. Students also deal with the young mentally l in the South Carolina State Hospital on Bull treet. Work is also done in impoverished communities in recreation areas through Imaginal education. 'S PS In the past, art students have painted murals for hospitals, fraternities and seraties have aided in orphangs, and Alpba Phi Omega took underprineed cbildren downtown an Saturday morning to see movies. Nursing students, church grups, and many others have worked in numerous projects throughout the com munity. This year the law students are planning to take a land and drug course into the local high schools. Also, business and law studeents plan to help the poor fill out income tax returns.
