Each team will play one game daily for the duration of the tournament. Of the ACC entries, Duke is expected to field its strongest team in years, while USC will rely on a completely revanped infield to improve its chances. 1wiches and Pizza titirbt lm cSCou age n Tap APTION PERMIT NO. 234 UPS 25 PHONE RESTAURANT 254-9674 LOONGE 254.9552 a. e fiber )smo sis. ed making girls' legs more beauti tgo. hat's been around a lot longer. )nt scientists and engineers look sy, they combine into an idea that rId. s is a purification process that :hange. "Space is the major hang up. Between the band and ROTC and flag football. we are just cramped for the space." Within the next two years a gymnasium for the use of the P.E. department will be constructed for the student's use. At this time the old gymnasium is the sole means of supporting basketball, volleyball and other indoor ac tivities. The Coliseum is not open for the student's recreation. The intramural department, at this time has not been asked to join in the planning of the new struc ture. according to Whitson but, "We are two years away from being built so the planning may not be complete. "We are years behind at this University in our intramural department. It is pitiful for a school this size." "It can be a real headache. Right now though. I can run a three ring circus with topless go-go girls on the athletic field without static as long as I don't bother anyone. "The entire university is in a big growing stage and I would like to see the Intramural department grow. "I did not come here to take this job. I was just a graduate assistant. When he was fresh on the Queen City morning paper he got into a pushing and shoving match with some hot tempers in the Davidson basketball dressing room and wound up with a ripped-up sport jacket. He got a new coat, and gained a great deal of respect everywhere. Often, unlike most of his contempories, Bob Lipper writes what everybody knows but nobody has the nerve to say. Recently he outdid himself when he exposed the frightful situation of non-interest in Atlantic Coast Conference football. It is a fact : the fans are staying away in droves except on the unusual occasions, and except at South Carolina. The Gamecock promotion has been unreal, and everybody knows the Dietzel formula for success. But Bob pointed up the real problem in the league. The football is dullsville. And , as he aptly observed, it has not a thing to do with the dearth of blue chip ball players, many of whom take the easier academic route of the Southeastern Conference rather than the ACC. Some are not able to get into the ACC, but others choose the SEC as their own. This is no excuse to be dull. Competition for the American entertainment dollar being what it is, the old saw about being out to win alone will not do. Of course, a team must win. Nobody except the Mets ever got rich and fat losing. But in addition to win ning, football teams now have to be flashy. Nobody is more con cerned than I am about the VREAIRI.ACC. These are great VI~IGR..schools, and they deserve VFEEL LIKEA public support. But they have got to give the public a * good show. The coaches all want to win, and hopefully they will remember that fan isual? It's only temporary, onl iningendbut on ng olem. But who cares when onteresting , "Oh, I'm so fat feeling"?
