Six Columbia neighborhoods are
slated for heavy treatment by "the
organization" this summer. The
organization? The Metropolitan
Education Foundation (MEF). And
the treatment? Fun and something
beneficial for all involved.
MEF offers a great opportunity
for students who wish to get in
volved in local affairs for the
betterment of the community.

As a result of this survey, day

six to 12. In addition to teaching
arts and crafts, the camps will
serve as nurseries. This will en

music and other outstanding traits
that speak for themselves.
Let me say, firstly, t h a t you
must see "Charly," starring Cliff
Robertson, and I'll build f r o m
there.
"Charly" is one of those splen
did films that hardly gets the pub
licity it deserves, the publicity that
goes to sell trash.
It is one of the best movies of
the year, although the Academy of
Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
excluded it from its list in favor of
some other films that "Charly"
surpasses.
As I have implied, it is a film
that is greater than the sum of its
parts. There is something unique
interwoven i n t o the masterfully
maintained mood of this movie,
but for which you have to view it
yourself to find.
This film reviewer cannot quite
put his finger on what it is that
each individual viewer will find,
react to and be entertained by,
but he knows that the film's merit
is equivalent to its effect upon the
viewer.

the direction makes it happen. And
again, it's so entertaining.
Somehow though, the Academy
did not manage to exclude Cliff

stress the importance of the dia

So perhaps these are facts that
make "Charly" such a rewarding
