Willian To Swi: BY BRUCE HONICK Staff Write Carolina's swimming team splashed their way to a victory over the Georgia Bulldogs Monday at the USC natatorium. The con. vincing 71-42 win was a fitting way to close out regular season competition. The USC tankers now are pre paring for the ACC Champion ships at Wake Forest University Feb. 27-28, and March 1. The only double winner for Caro. lina in the Georgia meet was Trond Williams. Williams captured the 50-yard freestyle event with a time of 22.3 seconds. He also won the 100-yard freestyle with a 2:20.0 clocking. Assistant swimming coach John Pittington said after the meeting with the Bulldogs, "We've found ourselves and are now going to get ready for the ACC meet." He remarked that the ACC meet w o u I d be a "dogfight between Maryland, North Carolina, and us." The remaining positions will be filled by Henry Ragle, Jeff Ream, Art Kamm, Doc Malloy, Bill Aus. tin, Jeff Harrick and Tod Hanson. "It's going to be a difficult year for us," said McClain. "We def initely won't be as good as last year, but I hope we can start off strong and get better during the season." Art Kamm is attending USC on grant-in-aid as o n e of the top young tennis prospects in the Mid dle Atlantic states. Kamm has won a number of tournament titles, was ranked as the number one high school player in the Shore Conference division in New Jersey and was ranked number 11 in the United States Lawn Tennis Asso ciation Middle States division. Tennis season opens March 18 when USC meets Presbyterian Col lege here.
