Queen To Be Chosen P o I I y Thacker will represent Carolina in the ACC F o o t b a ll Queen contest Nov. 2 at Raleigh. The vivacious, brown-eyed cheer leader measures 35-22-35 and is from Kissimmee, Fla. The ACC football queen will be crowned d u r i n g halftime cere monies of the regionally-televised N. C. State-Clemson game, and will go on to San Francisco to compete in the College Football Centennial Queen contest (luring the East-West Shrine game in De cember. M i s s Thacker, an elementary education major, is also sweet heart of Kappa Sigma Kappa fra ternity and is a member of Kappa Delta sorority. She says she would "consider it an honor for the University and for myself," to be named ACC football queen. Her real first name is Ldna, but Miss 'T'hacker says she picked up her nickname "somewhere along the way," because "my m i d d I e name is Parrett and people started calling me Polly." The sophomore-laden team will depend heavily on junior guard Bobby Cremins for leadership. Cremins, a 6'2 swing man, is the only starter from last year's squad returning this year. At present, the Gamecocks are practicing in the Naval Armory gym, but will move to the new Coliseum as soon as the floor is completed.
