Bill Light and Stewart Reynolds
howled over Erskine's Johnson and
Cheshire in consecutive sets 6-1,
6-0.
At the end of the first day's
competition, the Carolina netinen
were in the lead with their no-loss
record. Clemson placed second with
two losses and Presbyterian placed
third leaving Erskine to bring up
the rear.
In the second (lay of play, Heald
lost his match in three hard-played
sets to David Cooper of Clemson
4-6, 8-6, 8-6.
Light downed Anaya of Pres
byterian in sets of 6-3 and 6-4.
Schlosser defeated Kelaids of
Clemson in sets of 6-4, 6-4 in the
third position.
In the fourth spot, Reynolds lost
to Poling 6-4, 6-).
L a r r y Buhrman racketed his
way to a 6-0, 6-2 win over Herbert
of Clemson in the fifth position.
Malloy lost his match with Shel
ton of Clemson in sets of 6-1, 7-5.
In doubles play, Carolina's Heald
and Schlosser defeated the Amaya
brothers of Clemson .1-6, 6-2, 6-3,
to clinch the state championship
for Carolina.
