WUSC With M By EVERETT COX Staff Writer WUSC, Carolina's student radio station, began its broadcast year| last Friday with jazz, folk music, classical m u s i c and psychedelic music missing for the time being. The first three have been dropped over the past two years because of difficulties with low. listenership levels and announcing' problems. Station manager John Rock holtz said that shows featuring any of the three or psychedellic music may he programmed for free time on Saturday afternoon. The station carries news from the Mutual Broadcasting System and is staffed, managed and op erated by USC students. The sta tion broadcasts at 730 killohertz with 80 watts of authorized car rier-current power. This year they will not, he said, but the majority of the staff supports former vice president Nixon. C. 12 is a long way from Caro lina, but the Student .'nion's Bell Cam p has a host of activities for those willing to venture out. There is a main lodge for uses ranging from meetings to con cvrts. A kitchen, a hi-fi set, a television, table tennis and card tables are available in the lodge as are lounge areas. The camip itself has 11 cabins with space for a total of 125 per sons and a picnic area for 100, a children's playground, an outdoor hasketball court, a putt-putt golf course, a roped-off swiinming area and a camping area. Students may u<4e the camp at no cost other than a 25o per stu dent per day charge for the vfabins. The club has been in operation for moer than a year. Its name was devised by four students who came up with the Golden Spur, indicating the spur on the Game cock, school mascot. Last year the club operated off campus and had performances such as The Epics and The Charms.
