Prof. lI)arazs was faced with another one of the most challeng ing choral conducting experiences of his varied career when he di 1 rected the area's over-1,000-voice comhined choirs and choruses dur ing the first annual Governor's Carolighting ceremony at the State House on November 26. Prof. 1)arazs directed the more than 500 college and high school performers in the annual ITSC Christmas Music Festival Tuesday which included what the asst. prof. called several "surprises" in dramatic staging and lighting. lie is the director of the com hined USC choirs which he organ ized into a performing group of I:t0 trained voices during the last two Vears. After graduation from high school, Prof. lharazs earned thr.ce different diplomas at the Franz I,iszt Academy in Budapest. Prior to coming to the Univer sity, he taught at Columbia Uni versity in New York for five vears where he worked on his doctorate.
