student, a former graduate stu
dent and a High Point, N. C..
resident who have returned
their draft cards to the Federal
G.oVernment are being investi
gated by the Federal Bureau of
Investigation.
According to The Daily Tar
Heel, student newspaper at UNC,
they have been contacted by the
FBI, but no court action has
been brought against them.
Two of them, UNC junior Rob
ert Eaton and former sociology
graduate student George Vlasits,
turned in their cards to the Jus
tice Department in Washington.

The third, Mike Smedherg, anl
organizer for the Resistance, re
turned his on Oct. 16.
Although they could be prose
cuted for non-possession of their
draft cards, the constitutionality
of the law providing for prosecu
tion is leing reviewed by the
U. S. Supreme Court in its pres
ent session.

dormitories has been unexpect
edly reversed by Gerogetown
University.
Officials said the new policy
which allows all men to keep
beer and hard liquor in their
rooms was designed to help stu
dents develop personal responsi
hility.

dent personnel, authorities who
have studied the campus drink
ing issue have concluded that
"the formation of young men is
facilitated when they are given
the freedom to choose whether

case, the prosecution of a Missis
sippi State University student
for refusing to pay his campus 1
tickets has been dismissed.
Leslie C. Cohen, a Canadian
political science student at MSU, i
balked when the academic insti
tution imposed $20 in parking 4
fines without a hearing. ]
When the University threat- I
ened him with dismissal and
state court action unless fines
were paid, Cohen went to the
Lawyers Constitutional Defense
Committee of the American Civil
Liberties Union.
