TIME
The longest word
in the language?
By letter count, the longest
word may be pneumonoultra
microscopicsilico volcanoconiosis,
a rare lung disease. You won't
find it in Webster's New World
Dictionary, College Edition. But
you will find more useful infor
mation about words than in any
other desk dictionary.
Take the word time. In addi
tion to its derivation and an
illustration showing U.S. time
zones, you'll find 48 clear def
initions of the different mean
ings of time and 27 idiomatic
uses, such as time of one's life.
In sum, everything you want to
know about time.
This dictionary is approved
and used by more than 1000
colleges and universities. Isn't

Nursing
Research
Initiated
The U. S. Public Health Service
has granted $29,374 to the USC
School of Nursing for a special
one-year study to determine ways
in which nurses can better pre
pare patients for colonic x-ray ex
aminations.
The project will be directed by
Mrs. Ann P. Hempy of the School.
Research will be conducted at
Columbia Hospital.
Each year, hospital personnel
perform about two million diag
nostic examinations for such dis
orders of the colon as cancer, in
flammation and ulceration. It is
estimated that up to 40 per cent
of these examinations are not ade
quately prepared or could be
markedly improved.
Results of the study will be pub
lished in educational nursing pub
lications and will be used in in
service training conferences for
nurses.
