Wagener was telling anecdotes about the author when "Twain" walked in. Or at least someone who dressed and talked like Twain and carried an empty bottle of Twain's favorite whiskey walked in and took over the class. The first of the categories is scholarship standing on their chapter's campus. The USC chapter was academi cally the top fraternity on campus for the 1965-1966 year. The second of the categories used in the judging is campus leadership. The USC chapter totaled the largest number of points ever amassed in this com petition. In the third category, financial operations, Alpha Beta received a good rating by maintaining a good local credit rating and keeping in good financial standing with the national fraternity. Alpha Beta rated well in the final category, overall improvement. This marks the third time that a southern chapter has achieved this national honor since it was established by Phillip Thayer in the 1930's. Chi Psi is one of the oldest na ional fraternities and also one of the smallest with only 27 chapters nationally. It was the last of the present Carolina fraternities to be reinstalled.
