The winners in seven events set records that eclipsed both the Relays record and the Rex Enright Athletic Center track record. USC trackmen claimed records in two events. The first record came in an exciting Sprint Med ley Relay. In this event the lead man runs a 4.10, the next two run 220's, and the anchor man runs an 880. The first three legs for USC were run by Eddie Sonnenfeld, Bob Harris and Bob Turner. When Turner passed the baton to Mike Eidson the Gamecocks were in sixth place. Eidson quickly made un some distance, but at the beginning of the final stretch he was in third position. Coming off the turn the first two men went a little wide and Eidson performed a rare track feat and passed them both on the inside to secure the victory. The time of 3:23.8 erased the old mark of 3:27.2 set in 1964 by another USC team. Going To The Masters?
