Yearly Outlook Educa tio Total $11 By JEANNE POWELL (USC News Service) More than a quarter of a million dollars a year in research grants is the outlook for the School of Education at USC. Already the first $90,000 grant is paying for the Graduate Educa tional R e a e a r c h Training Pro gram, a $125,000 grant is im minent for the o pe r a t i on of a Regional R e s e a r c h Evaluation Center for Project Head Start, and an $84,000 grant is antici pated for training field research generalists. Students in the program spend part of their time learning about education, research procedure and a related field of specialization. The remainder of their time is spent in supervised research proj ects in other USC schools, de partments or bureaus; in cooperat ing institutions; or in state or federal agencies. ONLY ONE IN SOUTIIEAST This program is the only one of its kind in the Southeast and one of few in the nation. It is expected to have national impact due to the present shortage of persons spe cialized in educational research. The Graduate Educational Re search Training Program is one of several research projects that the School of Education's Committee for Educational Research coordi nates. Committee Chairman Myles I.
