Summertii Honor Foi R o b e r t Hutchinson and Rick Warford, midshipmen registered in Carolina's Naval Officer Training Corps battalion, won awards dur ing summer cruise and at summer camp. Midshipman Ensign Robert H. Hutchinson, while stationed at Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi, Texas, won the first place trophy in the pistol phase of competition with 480 midshipmen from 52 uni versities in the United S t a t e s vieing for the award. Firing a .45 caliber automatic pistol, Hutchinson scored 352 from a perfect score of 400 to take the award. The Commanding Officer at the Naval Air Station presented him the award for outstanding performance in pistol competition. He is M a r i n e Option in the NROTC program. Midshipman Lieutenant R i c k Warford, while stationed at the Marine Corps School in Quantico, Va., broke the M a r i n e Corps standard obstacle course r e c o r d, which had been existing there for eight years. He scored 54.2 sec onds, breaking the former record of 55 seconds for the course. Warford commands C o in p a n y "C," drill component of the NIROTC battalion at Carolina. The kickoff luncheon for the drive is set for Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. in the Russell House Assembly Room. Supplies for the drive will be distributed then. The charge was reduced to disorderly conduct and the student, faced with a choice of paying a $100 fine or spending :0 days in jail, paid the fine. A University student was ar rested and charged with running his arm'through a window at the K-Mart. The store manager de elined to prosecute the housebreak ing charges and the student paid $150 to cover damage. The students charged with dis orderly conduct and ousebroamking were placed in disciplinary study hall for eight weeks each and put on probation for a calendar year. The over-36 new cases in the disciplinary study hall brings the total n umber to 50. These offenses vary from g a m b l i n g, drinking, harassing, and wrestling in the dorms tA) disorderly conduct and bringing liquor into the dorms. There is one case of theft pend ing before the University Discipline Committee. Two members are to be elected to the committee this month.
