Thirty upperclassmen and grad
uate students will be employed
as counselors for the Upward
Bound Project this summer.
The project will involve bring
ing 120 high school students to
the University for an intensive
10-week program. These stu
dents, coming from economically
deprived families, may have ed
ucation limitations but have shown
that with proper motivation they
would be capable of college work.
Responsibilities of the student
counselors will include supervision
of the high school students and
generating initiative and enthusi
asm among them.
Three counselors will be as
signed to each group of 12 stu
dents, both counselors and stu
dent groups being biracial. Dates
for the program are June 13 thru
August 19. Although some week
end work may be involved, coun
selors may possibly have free
r time to take one course in summer
L school.
9 Student counselors will receive
$50.00 per week plus room and
