Lancaster Building Dedicated The seventh Carolina regional campus operating under the Col lege of General Studies was for mally dedicated Sunday afternoon at Lancaster. The $500,000 education-adminis tration b u i I d i n g complex was opened to the public Sunday after ceremonies which included a brief address by President Thomas F. Jones. Lancaster enrollment has jumped from the '50 students registered six years ago to 230. The faculty in cludes 15 full-time professors and four commuting professors. The c a in p u s moved from its downtown location in an old co lonial type mansion to new facili ties north of the city near Lan caster High school. The U n i v e r s i t y College of General Studies also o p e r a t e s branch campuses in F 1 o r e n C e, Beauifort, Aiken, Union, Allendale and Horry Counties. The Feven schools combined contribute ap proxiinately 1.300 students to the! University's total enrollment of over 10,000. E. Gloria Smith and Dick Goldie will travel to the University of Chicago to participate in a mid western tournament. Garret Van Seters and Marty Price, Hb Salane aid James Gold;e will go to Emory l:nivesity, Atlanta, Ga., for a mleeting of 50 colleges and uli versities. Last weekend, four USC debate teams brought home three individ ual first places from two separate contests, and two first places in .he tournaments. At the Dixie Tournament hela at Mercer University, Milledgeville, Ga., both the Carolina affirmative and negative teams tied for first in the tournament, bringing USC a tie for first place in the tourna ment with Emory University. The topic of debate in the tournia ment was "R-esolved: That law en forcenient agencies in the Utnited 14 Will Take Flying Classes In AFROTC Fourteen Senior cadets iii the de partment of aerospace studies at the U'niversity are participating in the :SC Air Force 1OIC Flight Instru tion Progran (FIP). Cadets also receive 30 hours of ground school instruction taught by Maj. Walter I- Gerald, F1I' project officer.
