Power Fail
Hits Campus
During Week
Power failures in several class
rooms and administrative build
ings on campus this week report
edly resulted from inadequate cir
cuits and increased power de
mands of new campus facilities.
Electrical service was inter
iupted Tuesday, Wednesday and
Thursday for periods of two hours
or more at a time. Residence halls,
the Russell House and the School
of Business Administration were
unaffected. Reports say this area
is served by higher capacity cir
cuits installed in 1963.
The power failures reportedly
shut down air conditioning, light
ing, office machines and research
equipment. Power switches were
shut off to redluce the load, and
then re'storedl one building at a
time.
Officials say the power problem
is undler studly in a plan to in
crease the cap)acity of the entire
electrical system.
