Go, Go Gamecocks Win Over Bulldogs Carolina fans saw the Noe win policy Saturday night for the first time this season when a scrappy USC team outplayed fa vored Georgia at the Field House and won 77-60. Seniors Ronnie Collins, Bill Yarbrough, and Jimmy Collins scored all except eight of Caro lina's points, but the opening victory was a team effort if there ever was one. Georgia, who had proven their strength by beating Clemson earlier in the season, was un nerved by the eight-point lead the Gamecocks built up before the Bulldogs scored their first point. DEFENSE The aggressive South Carolina defense kept Georgia off balance all night and did not give up a field goal until 13 minutes had elapsed. Ronnie Collins totaled 37 points and 10 rebounds plus many valuable assists for what Coach Chuck Noe called, "the finest night of his career." The Winnsboro, S. Knock ( Paladins Fold In Final Half BY DICK BIGGS Sports Writer Carolina's "Go-Go-Go" Game cocks, led by a 6-3 youngster from Winnsboro, S. C., named Ronnie Collins, defeated the Fur man Paladins Tuesday night, 45-32, to extend tneir winning streak to two games. Collins dominated first period play, scoring 14 of Carolina's 17 points while shooting an incredi ble 78.0% from the floor. Ironic ally enough, it was big John Schroeder who sank the first two points for the Gamecocks, but it was Collins who kept Carolina with a lead that was never re linquished. Running their 3-2 offense on sheer discipline and determina tion, the "Go-Go-Go" boys ex hibited the will to win in a delib erate, but contagious manner. STUDENT SUPPORT Fans never ceased yelling and applauding Coach Chuck Noe's hustling, scrambling Gamecock five. And no one expressed the glory of winning any more than John Schroeder.
