For E Williams, Self Take Citations University Honors Local Attorney Two University students and a Columbia attorney received the highest honors conferred by USC for service to others, the Algernon Sydney Sullivan award. On hand for the awards were Brenda Joyce Williams, a senior from North Augusta, and Osce Self, a senior from Columbia. Lumpkin received his award for his chairmanship of the Greater Uni versity Fund for private financial support of USC's academic pro gram. Awards were presented during the first portion of the University Day program and was followed by the traditional May Day ceremony. Anne Digby of Greer was crowned May Queen. The charter was presented to the chapter by Mr. Donald Ho bart, past president of the Ameri can Marketing Association. Mr. Hobart is known as an outstand ing marketing research executive. He has served Curtis Publishing Company as a past director and senior vice-president. Te(nir Bill inges irst Act )f 1963-64 rocedure Action Carried By 25-9 Vote BY KAY HUGHEY Senate Correspondent The new 1963-64 Student nate at USC got its first ste of legislative procedure onday at its second official eeting. Highlighting the eeting was the introduc mn, debate, and passage of bill concerning lounges on e USC campus. The bill, introduced by mator Tim Quinn, was con rned with the fact that the aternities and sororities on tmpus must pay rent for ieir respective lounges, and ust also buy such items as levision sets and furniture for eir own use, while there are well uipped lounges in several of the en's dormitories which cost the en nothing. The bill was passed by a 'oe of 5-9, and a committee was formed look into the situation. Also introduced, but sent to ommitte for further study, was bill concerning the traffic prob em on campus. Such things as tot allowing freshmen to have ars except under certain condi ions, the establishment of a traf ic court, and the problem of high raffic tickets were mentioned in he bill. Highlighting the race is the crowning of Little Miss 500 with contestants from each sorority vying for the title.
