They have occupied their classrooms and barred professors from them for the past 17 days. The 450 students, at a so-called strike council this afternoon, said they would not quit until their professors agreedl to discuss the studlenJt demandsl(1. Publicly the professors were saying they would not discuss the issue with the students as long as the strike continued. Joan Baez, the darling of Har vard and Washington Square beat and folkniks, has enraged her more conventional devotees by her re fusal to cut more than one record a year. Everyone a b o uld be thoroughly placated upon hearing her most recent album, however, for it is by far her best. Recorded live at her famed SRO Carnegie Hall concert, this record is conclusive evidence that Miss Baez is the leading folk artist of her genera tion. Her interpretation of "Black is the Color" is especially stirring, for, as in so many of her songs, the voice is pure and versatile, the g.uitar accompaniment subtle and unobstrusive, the words rich and alive. Kappa Psi News Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fra ternity activated twelve new mem bers on Saturday, March 2. The pledges activated were: Robbie Lowe, Sherrill Bullock, James Ca son, Charles Baumgardner, Fred Butchorn, James Elias, Larry Ford, David K. Smith, James Gentry, Cullen Griffin, Wylie Hamm, and Eddie Myers. Following the Activation Serv ices, the new actives were feted with a banquet at Swain's Steak House. The speaker for the eve ning was Professor Robert Stokes, a professor in the U.S.C. School of Pharmacy. Professor Stokes spoke on the "Ideals of Kappa Psi Pharmacautical Fraternity." The new actives were welcomed into the fraternity by Dean R. W. Morri son of the School of Pharmacy. Both Dean Morrison and Professor Stokes are alumni of Kappa Psi College chapters. The fraternity is a national Pharmaceutical fraternity w h i e h strives to uphold the profession of pharmacy and draw pharmacists closer together through fraternal bonds. Pi Kappa Alpha Actives The new members of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity are Fred Davis, Fred Rieson, Ray Kestler, Mike McCarthy, Keith Angerman, Alan Gregory, Stirling Laney, Bob Wolf son, Kenny Rhea, Tommy Doughty, and Kerry Smith. The new members were activated March 3rd at a ceremony held in Wesley Foundation Chapel. Delta Delta Delta Chapter News Alpha Lambda chapter of Delta Delta Delta announces the pledging of two new girls: Tish Evans, a sophomore from Columbia, and Sid ney Rutledge, a freshman from Florence. At the same time, Evelyn God shall of Gaffney, who transferred from Breneau, was taken into the active chapter. On Feb. 14, Mrs. Jerry (Pat) Meyer Districh, President of Delta Delta Delta, came to Carolina to visit the Alpha Lambda chapter for a few days.
