A Bible discussion on "What Is Sin?" will be held. Senate Places Boxes Student Senate is placing sug gestion boxes at various locations on campus to provide an ear for ideas and to gauge the pulse of student opinion. The boxes will be opened at least once every week for contents to be edited and arranged according to form and specific category. Ideas and proposals may be sent to any of the five legislative com mittees for consideration a n d formal introduction to the entire Student Senate; they may be pre sented to the Senate directly; or they may be taken care of by the executive branch without the use of legislation. The Student Senate has a vast area of control and an amazingly effective administration, but the extent of Its activity is limited to the observations of its members, senators stated. Because legisla tion mainly reflects the sphere of experiences and observations of a little over fifty people, the reser voir of ideas is small and many areas that need attention un doubtedly remain unnoticed, they added. They also point out the Senate desperately needs the ideas and opmnions of students . . . every stu dent should have a means to ex press himself to his student government. RANDALL - One who has contributed to the pres tige of the University not only by his services as Law Professor, but by his contributions to his profession. Holder of a Master's Degree in Law from Harvard College, Mr. Randall practiced law in New York City before coming to Carolina in 1954. Ac tive in several organizations dedi cated to the improvement of the administration of justice in the United States, he is a reporter for the South Carolina Judicial Council, a member of the Se -urity Board of the Savanr, River Atomic Energy plant, :ounsellor for the Joint Blood Council, and a member of the American Bar Association Taxa -ion S tion Committee. He is also a member of the South Carolina Bar Association and of the a American Association of Univer- i fity Professors. He has recently 3een named a Lieutenant Colonel I n the Air Force Reserve. 'Ie Disaster Control Recovery Committee decided unanimously during a meeting called last week by Dean W. 11. Patterson that campus-wide drills are essential to make the plan work. The telephone company is deter mining what it will take to keer the Centrex system operating foi campus communications in an emergency, especially in regard to an emergency generator. A modification of earlier plans now has all women scheduled for shelter in South Building, with ex ception of some in family groups. The emergency medical facility will also be in South Building, as will the Disaster Control Recovery headquarters. Training has begun for leaders of the 20 teams being assembled to monitor radioactivity. Fully qualified instruction is all but assured for the auxiliary police unit which is to be organized. The Columbia Fire Department will train the University's auxiliary firemen in fire prevention, blaze handling, and rescue.
