Contributions of the new mem bers to the University were read in the form of citations. They are as follows: MARION EUGENE BURNS .*ne whose friendly and easy-go ing personality has won the at tention of his fellow students, Mr. Burns' high character has made him a wholesome influence on our campus. He has served as an officer of "The Gamecock" staff, a member of the YMCA Cabinet, and an Orientation Counselor. Both Arnold Air So ciety and Kappa Sigma Kappa have recognized his influence and leadership in our community. He has further contributed as a Greater University Fund worker, a University Registration Assis tant, a member of the Student Government Elections Committee, and an officer of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. His concern for in tellectual endeavor has resulted in his being named to the Honor Roll each of his semesters here and his being presented the Air F o r c e Freshman Scholarship Award. His grade point ratio is 5.1. His ability, personality, and solid character have made him a constructive force on our cam pus. Myers' prize - winning stor) was an eyewitness account of th4 University of Mississippi inte. gration turmoil I a s t month printed in a special "Gamecock' insert titled "It Happened ir Mississippi." But getting his story prove somewhat costly to Myers, alor with several other "Gamecocl< staff writers who made an at venturesome, 1,200-mile trip to O: ford, Miss., early in October. He is recognized not only for his own academic achievement, but for his sincere efforts to stimu late and assist other students in their academic pursuits. JAMES ALLEN LESTER GLENN-One who has combined a well-rounded social life with a sense of responsibility to the Uni versity. He has used his appealing personality not only for personal satisfaction, but to serve Caro lina's students. For two years he has been an active member of the Student Senate and has worked with many committees, including the popular Dance Committee of which he is now co-chairman. He has served the Sigma Nu Fraternity as an of ficer and has been recognized by Kappa Sigma Kappa. He has al so distinguished himself academ ically in a difficult field of study, having received an academ ic scholarship and having been elected to Rho Chi Pharmaceuti cal Honor Fraternity. He is recognized for his personable service to the University and its students. HERBERT REID HEILIG - One whose social conscience and concern for the welfare of others has moved those who know him. He has tirelessly worked to con tribute to the religious awareness of our Community. "It's ironic," Myers said of the announcement that he had been rewvarded for his journalistic ef fort. Eddie Roberts, a junior and state chairman of the Collegiate Council for the United Nations, is heading the group that will hear political leaders discuss the his tory, structure, and goals of the Piano Duo To Appear Wednesday Nelson and Neal, an Australian \merican Two-Piano team, will ppear as the second presentation ,f the University Artists Series iext Wednesday, December 5, at L p.m. in Drayton Hall.
