The 1962-63 intramural year is under way. Swimming i.
in the past, football has just begun, and many other sport
are yet to come. The incentive that each fraternity an<
zone team works toward is the Intramural All-Sport
Trophy.
One of the most competitive teams on campus is th4
Sigma Nu Fraternity. This group has captured the annua
All-Sports Trophy FIVE OUT OF THE LAST SEVED
YEARS. Pi Kappa Alpha and Phi Kappa Sigma are th<
other title holders.
Last year, Sigma Nu, under the leadership of Jimm:
Lanford, Osce Self, Jimmy Mills, and Ronnie Collins, wo)
the fraternity badminton singles, ping-pong singles an
doubles, basketball, volleyball, and softball. This season thi
"Nu's" are again expected to be a leading contender in eacl
of the 11 year-long events.
KA will be another one of the main threats in the intra
mural program this year. They were fraternity champion.
in golf and won the campus football title. Delaney Ruff

Bill Price, Pinky Skinner, Jerry Watson and Bobby lVullei
are returning this year with efforts to boos,t their teams t(
the top.
Pi Kappa Alpha, which won the fraternity title in tracl
and swimming, will be the next leading contender for hon
ors. They have gotten off to a good start this year, wvinning
the swimming meet. Jim Fitzpatrick, Billy Gambrell, Robit
Stanford, and Ken Rea were outstandling athletes last yeai
and will again be the high hopes for the Pikas.
SAE and SPE failed to place in the finals last year, bu1
both were tough competitors. Both had a fine year in foot
ball and softball. In the swimming meet, which took plac
about twvo weeks ago, SA E captured second place.
INDEPENDENT LEAGUE
Zone 6 will be the main worry for the fraternity team
when it comes to campus championships. Last year this zon
won the campus title in basketball and softball, and th
independent honors in volleyball, track, and miniature golf
They also possessed the "Intramural Athlete of the Year
-Lyles Adair. Zone 6 will not be as strong as they were las
season, but will have some fine leaders in Todd Wilson
Johnny Lester, and Joe Prehodlka.
