Student Senate Minutes May 7, 1962 The regular meeting of the Student Senate was called to order by the President, Osce Self. The meeting was opened with a prayer by Chaplain Walter Bull. The roll was called and the minutes of the last meeting were approved as read. OLD BUSINESS: President Self made the following committee appoint ments: President's Advisory Council-Johnny Hagins, Osce Self, Chuck Simons, Mary Huston Armstrong, Don Hunt, Jim McElveen, and Bob Plunkett; State Student Legisla ture-Jimmy Truesdale, chairman, Ken Chance, Johnny Hagins, John Chappell, John Dalisa, Ann Gray and Bob Plunkett; Publications - Chip Cothran, chairman, Gene Platt, Buzzy Henderson, and Levona Page; Student Affairs -Osce Self, chairman, Chuck Simons, Howard Hellams, and Mary Anne Easterling; Student-Faculty Relations Johnny Hagins, Chuck Simons, Mary Huston Armstrong, Don Hunt, Jim McElveen, Bob Plunkett, Joan Wolcott, and Howard Hellams. It was moved that these appointments be accepted. The motion was passed. NEW BUSINESS: Jim McElveen moved that Student Senate reconsider the motion that was passed at the April 30th meeting con cerning the proposal to move the Student Body from the West to the East side at football games. The motion was passed. A lengthy discussion followed. Arguments, pro and con were presented. Some senators felt that Student Senate had not voted in accordance with the wishes of the Student Body. It was suggested that the Student Body be allowed to vote on the proposal, but this was decided to be out of the question at the present time. The motion was made to set up a committee to investigate the proposal and re port at the next meeting. The motion was defeated. Student Senate voted on the proposal to move the Stu dent Body from the West side to the East side. A roll call vote was called for. Respectfully submitted, Mary Huston Armstrong Secretary Derby Day Proves An Action-Packed Medley Pi Beta Phi took home the Slenderama Special, pie eating "Bronze Derby" trophy last week contest - Kappa Delta, Alpha following the 17th annual Sigma Delta Pi, Delta Zeta. Chi Derby Day held on the old- Grand National, relay race - camnpus "horseshoe." Kappa Delta, Chi Omega, Delta Bonnie M e e k s, representing Zeta. Alpha Delta Pi, won the "Miss Sigma Cha Cha, relay - Chi Venus" title. Gayle Richardson, Omega, Zeta Tau Alpha, Alpha Zeta Tau Alpha, placed second; Delta Pi. and Marion Boyd, Delta Delta Delta, was third. In the costume judging event, Pi Beta Phi took first place withAD NC members dressed as spiders and roaches and pursued by an ex-GUR terminator. Delta Delta Delta was second in Raggedy Ann costumes,Stldb and Alpha Delta Pi third with ER members dressed as poodles. Other contests and winners in order of awards were: Battle of the Belles, a balloon breaking contest - Pi Beta Phi, Zeta Tau Alpha, and Delta Zeta. Third semester law students are required to be in the top 10 per cent of their class, and to have a -1.5 cumulative grade-point ratio. After fifth semester, students can be accepted with an overall 4.5 average.
