Perhaps "grades" is the word we need to finish this quotation. Students are beginning to get that wary -look whenever a pro fessor seems unusually happy (imaybe he just finished makcing out a very interesting (?) final exam); and all over campus one can see the remnents of candles burnt at both ends. This week's question may seem a little silly at first because of the way that final exams have become almost a tradition on most college cam puses, but it da a question at least worthy of our attention for a few minu.tes ...and I be lieve that you will find yourself wondering about the subject with actual interest if you give your self a chance. At the end of the semester exams should be given to ~all students in the class who the professor feels need to take the exam. Finals should count as much as one hour quiz, but it is unfair for .it to count more than %A of the grade for the entire semester. That -is a fault of our faculty which should -and can be cor rected. It would keep both pro fessors and students on their toes and no one would tend to become lax in their studies. The students would be prepared. SYLVIA MOSELEY, a sophio more, says: "I think the fairest way to determine a grade is to have sev eral small tests during the se mester and a final covering the broad parts of a subject. "With so many exams to take at one time, a lot of students stay up all night for two or three nights in a row. By the time .they take the exam they are so exhausted that it ils no surprise if 'they fail. Most pro fessors expect their students to know minor details for their exams.
