Strauss Pe A Hum-Dr The music of Johann Strauss demands from its interpreters a sense of style. Without this vital pterequisite, a performance of Straus' masterpiece "Die Fleder maus" can became a hum-drum af fair. Such was the case of the Na itional Grass Roots Opera Company in their presentation of the comic operetta in the University Field ' House on Wednesday night the 25th of March. Uninspired Accompanist The lilting, effervescent charm of Nindteenth Century Vienna was gone. The fault, aside from sev eral others, seemed to lie with the abandoning of an orchestra and a conductor for the use of a piano. Little can be said of ithe accompan ilt; she performed in a stiff, me chardeal style, wholly uninspired. D'spite the total use of spoken dialogue- to provide ~a sense of draanatic continuity, the east of characters carried out their roles in an over-deliberate Manner.
