Monday the freshman 'Y' will
have its weekly luncheon meeting
at 1:00 p.m. in the Russell House
Assembly Room. Sue Nettles will
leae in singing Christmas carols.
A ioluntary offering of 26c will
be collected to sponsor several
Christmas baskets for the needy
of Columbia.
Tuesday the 'Y' will sponsor a
dance for both the freshman and
upperclass 'Y' to be held. at the
R. G. Bell Camp. Buses will leave
at 6:30 p.m. from the Russell
House parking lot.
On Wednesday everyone is in
vited to go carolling after the bas
ketball game. Following the game
everyone will meet in front of the
old Gym, then go around the cam
pus singing. After the carolling
coffee, hot chocolate, and dough
nuts will be served in the Russell

Sixteen student nurses, Univer
sity Juniors, are now studying at
the Columbia Hospital under the
instruction of USC assistant pro
fessors Ruth Fleury and Jerry
Blaylock.
The girls have a rough schedule
to follow. Beginning their day at
7 a.m., they are in class and work
ing until 3:30 p.m. Mondays they
have four hours of clinical experi
ence and one hour of nutrition un
der the supervision of Columbia
Hospital, in addition to two hours
of class.
Ward Conference
On Tuesdays ward conferences,
in which the nurses discuss their
various cases and patients, and
necessary treatment, take all day.
In clinical experience the stu

The students think that the new
program which is to be installed
next year will greatly expand
nursing education offerings at the
University.
Under the new plan the girls
will begin their clinical experience
their sophomore year at Carolina
and will live on campus.

Uniforms of the student nurses
are yellow with the University
seal on them. Their aprons and
caps are white and their capes are
blue.
The students are residing at the
Columbia Hospital on First Guerry
Wing and Second West Wing.
By way of extra curricular ac
tivities, a talent show,- "Cross
section USC," was sponsored by
the students about a month ago.
