ADPi's The ADPi's, under the direc tion of Helena Blanchard, will render a southern medley consist ing of five songs: "I Dream of Jeannie With the Light Brown Hair," "Beautiful Dreamer," "Lively Ring de Banjo," "Oh, Suzanna," and "The Battle Hymn of the Republic." Off T) By George Special News item: Buffalo, New York. It seems that the high school kids themselves have clamped down on sloppy dress. Student council in the high schools there got to gether to try to do something about the dress in the city schools. The result has been amazing. Here is how they did it. They put up mirrors in the hallways of all the schools with a sign over them that stated "Are You Satisfied?" They also set down a few rules, such as: a student must wear shirt and tie with a coat or sweater; clothes must 1e clean and neatly pressed; the female populace must wear conservative skirts with conservative blouses. Attitude Changes If any one comes to school im properly dressed they are sent home to change and if this is con tinued they are expelled from school not by the faculty but by the students themselves. The clothes do not have to be expen sive or up to date, but they do have to be neat. As I said before the results have been amazing; the grades as a whole have gone up considerably; fights and van dalism have made a remarkable decrease; the whole attitude of the students has undergone a great change. Conclusion and moral: Con clusion, that the Buffalo school system is on the upswing; moral, see wvhat you can dor with a little neatness. Policy of Dress In writing this article I some times give the wrong impression as to the way you should dress and what the different types of dress should be. Well let me say this, I dlon't mean to imply that everyone should do this or die trying (or go broke trying), but I do mean that each one of us has an obligation to try his best in anything we (10 and that goes for dressing as wvell as anything else. Sometimes I see people around campus and in the city, males and females alike who look likc they were buried the night before and have just arisen. Their hair and clothes look as if they have never received the proper attention. You have hear this phrase many times, "dress right, you can't af ford not to," this doesn't mean that you are to study the fashions diligently and at all cost be ac May We Si In Russell House - or On Location For andi1 S L A ority Song e Monday McKinney Vriter Like Show Business." Team in Fashion Flash, flash. When you attend the first game, basketball, that is, you will see that the team is really stepping out this year in new uniforms. Gone will be the garb of last year and it will be replaced by brighter colors. I un derstand the traveling uniforms will be bright red. Hurrah for the basketball team! If they don't win this year at least they will be noticed. Blazer Results The blazer business this year has not been so good. The sum total of their efforts has been, the grand total of four, I repeat, four male blazers and twenty female blazers. I hear that in the future you will only be able to get one color, charcoal (oxford) gray; this is really for the benefit of the girls. it seems the girls have ordered so many different colored blazers that wvhen several wear them at the same time it looks like a color paaeor better still a convention of various women's colleges. The men's blazers have all been gray. Good work men! you show the girls that you stick together. Crest Wanted Last year at the University of North Carolina when the football team ended the season by beating duke (I know it should be a capi tal) they were presented with cashmere traveling jackets. They were beautiful blue jackets with the UNC crest or seal on the pocket. What's good enough for them is good enough for our boys -- what about it coach? PROFESSOR ACCO1 Choral Sc Presents ' Sunday after Sunday, new dis coveries in music are made at Co lumbia's historic Trinity Church, by a congregation now coming to expect the unexpected. A hymn is announced . .. and newcomers and long-tiibe congre gation members alike open the Hymnal to beautiful melody and verse they may never have heard. It is not only the choirs, at Trinity, who learn and perfect new music from everv age of sacred melody. Music to Be Shared The choirmaster and organist at Trinity thus carries out his belief that music is to be shared in . . . not always performed by a few, as others listen passively. It is appropriate that this choirmaster, Robert L. Van Doren will be the accompanist, when the Columbia Choral Society pre sents Handel's oratorio, "The Messiah," Sunday, Dec. 7. Membership Membership in the Columbia Choral Society is not limited to professional singers or voice teachers. Anyone who enjoys singing, and can read music, is invited to the group auditions pre ceding each year's performances. Many of the singers rehearsing now for the Dec. 7 Oratorio en joy music as an avocation, as do most members of Mr. Van Doren's choirs at Trinity.
