Back in 1948, the Blue Key fra ternities of Carolina and Clemson, in an effort to build up good will between the two schools, donated this loving cup to the cause. The president of the Blue Key of the losing school presents the cup to the coach or captain of the winning team during the half-time of the Clemson-Carolinra basketball game. The presentation is made at the winning team's home game. The scores of all the games are engraved on the cup each year. Clemson was the recipient of the trophy the first year, and Carolina has had it every year since then. As one more tradition woven around the essence of tradition it self at the University, the Big Ihursday game, this tea cup is Lhe symbol of triumph presented publicly in the hopes or fostering ;ood will between the contenders.
